SHIFT
Docere – to teach. I received my Bachelor of Education in 2010. I used to say, “I used to be a teacher”. As an ND I recognize that not only am I a teacher still, but more central to my thinking is that I am a STUDENT. Lifelong learning is a tenet I hold dear. I am always learning from my own patients, from my friends and family as well as from the natural environment in which I walk and live. I am also forever humbled by the amazing doctors in my profession as well as by those in complementary health fields. Collaboration with and learning from these great teachers shifts my perspectives and challenges the things I thought I knew. SHIFT is an interview-based column dedicated to learning from my many teachers, countering intra-professional competition and celebrating the student-mind.
